Dear AFS customer,
Transarc is preparing to make the AFS 3.1 product release in the next
couple of weeks. We are contacting all AFS customers who have site licenses
to determine what system types they would like to receive the AFS 3.1
binaries for. The current set of supported system types for the AFS 3.1
release include:
hp300_ux70, next_mach20, pmax_ul3, pmax_ul31d, pmax_ul4, rs_aix31,
rt_aix221, rt_aos4, sun3_35, sun3_40, sun3_41, sun3x_40, sun3x_41,
sun4_40, sun4_41, sun4c_40, sun4c_41, vax_ul3, vax_ul4
With the AFS 3.1 release, we will be shipping Sun OS 4.1 tapes to those
sites who originally ordered Sun OS 3.5 or Sun OS 4.0 binaries. For
Ultrix, we will be shipping Ultrix 4 to those sites that originally
ordered Ultrix 3.0, Ultrix 3.1 or Ultrix 3.1d. If you are still running
one of the older versions of the above operating systems, and you would
like us to send those binaries instead of the Sun OS 4.1 binaries or
Ultrix 4 binaries, we need to be notified. If you would like to receive
both levels of binaries for the same hardware type, we will do so for an
extra tape charge of $75.00. If you choose an older version at this point
and request the latest version at a later point, you will be charged the
extra tape charge for each tape you request.
This will be the last AFS release supported on Sun OS 3.5, Sun OS 4.0.3,
Ultrix 3.0, Ultrix 3.1 and Ultrix 3.1d. All of the binaries will also be
available over the network. We will send mail to all of the Site Contacts
indicating the location of the binaries when the release is complete.
Please notify us via afshelp@transarc.com by February 22, 1991 of which
system types you need to receive binary tapes for.
