Hello AFS'ers!
I run an afs cell using Sun workstations as servers. When I'm doing
some upgrades to far away clients I: (1) construct the new system on a
spare disk (2) use the "eeprom" command to change the default boot
device (3) tell the machine to reboot. This works rather well; I've
yet to drive the 200 miles to Arlington TX to fix a problem ;-)
Our site is considering adding some other hardware types, such as
RS6000, HP workstations and DECstations to our cell. I'm unfamiliar
with these machines: is there any gotchas in trying to administer
these machines (as a client) from a central site??? I'll summarize
replys that are not posted to the list.
Thanks!
