There have been three recent additions to the AFS User Contributed
collection. Two are helpful tools from the Andrew cell at Carnegie
Mellon University and the last is a set of AFS client binaries for the
Apollo/Domain system from the University of Michigan. Since many
people have expressed interest in the Apollo port, I thought I would
post this announcement to the info-afs list.
The afs-contrib area is accessible via AFS through the path
/afs/transarc.com/public/afs-contrib. For anonymous FTP access,
see the directory pub/afs-contrib on the host grand.central.org.
The following files have recently been added or updated:
0] afs-contrib/README & afs-contrib/Index
An introduction to the afs-contrib area with instructions on
obtaining and submitting contributions. The Index file summarizes
all the current contributions.
1] afs-contrib/tools/venusmon
A tool which monitors the fetching and storing activities of the
cache manager. It produces output similar to the Andrew Toolkit
(ATK) "console" program. Lines of this form are sent to standard
output:
F: afs-contrib
F: tools
F: venusmon
S: vmon.c
2] afs-contrib/tools/reauth
A program used to periodically reauthenticate to AFS. The user-id,
password, and a time interval are given on the command line.
3] afs-contrib/bin/apollo-client
A binary distribution of the AFS client software for the Apollo /
Domain system, sr10.2 or later. Server functionality is not
provided. Sources are not available. The "Readme" file gives
detailed installation instructions.
You only need to copy the "Readme" and "Apollo-AFS.tar" files. For
reference, the tar file has been extracted along side the other
files.
Enjoy!
