on a related topic (re: discussion of initial acls on volumes):
currently, the initial acl is a copied from the parent of the
new directory. it would be nice if one could specify the initial
acl to be used for any new directories created within a particular
directory such as on the apollo file system. i haven't read the
afs4.0 specs so perhaps this has already been addressed.
