It has to be started by hand anyway. The more serious problem is that for some inexplicable reason they decided to use port 7000 as the default service port - which, fortunately, can be changed on the command line. You'll just have to coach your users to specify port 6010 in their fontpaths ala tcp/freehold.andrew.cmu.edu:6010 dan
