Folks...
Any change which would violate the single global AFS namespace would be
a very bad idea. As Wallace has said, this involves faking all kinds of
names for all kinds of machines, which would shoot any attempt at
reasonable wide-area collaboration in the foot. One thing I've learned
from dealing with many AFS users in numerous cells is that the global
namespace is *THE* most desired feature in AFS.
Non-portable, highly-localized pathnames: just say no.
