Since I was the first person to report AFS vs. TeX problems, I have
been negligent in reporting solutions/work-arounds. Others probably
have pointed out the correct problem/solution pairs, but here is what
our status is.
DEC 5100 class; programs: all, including TeX, Gnu-Emacs, System; Symptoms:
"can not cwd", "unable to pwd", etc; Solution/Problem: root.afs had
the wrong volume id number.
RS6000 class; programs: TeX; Symptoms:"no such device", "permission
denied"; Solution/Problem: bad (early) version of /usr/vice/etc/dkload.
Sun 4/260 class (Sun OS 4.0.?); programs: TeX only; Symptoms: same as
RS6000's; Solution/Problem: unknown--I will work on this after upgrading
the OS and AFS program pairs.
