Greetings,
One of my work associates suggested this mailing alias as a good reference
for AFS problems....so here goes.
We have a number of AFS servers which will occasionally (2-3 times/week) gooffline for a short period of time. These serve
valuable data which our programs need to access. Several of our programs will
run for hours at a time. Currently, when a server with data on it crashes,
fread or fwrite (depending on the currento operation) will abend and the
program will abend as well. This happens even if the server is only unavailablefor 2 or 3 minutes.
Are there any versions of fwrite and fread which could tolerate these
short outages and not immediatly abend?
One other note. Because of the size of our data and Disk Space shortages,
server duplication is not an option for us.
Thanks
Bob Hart (rlhart@inetnode.austin.ibm.com)
