On Thursday, September 5, 1991 9am EST the X11R5 distribution will be
available via AFS in /afs/grand.central.org/pub/X11R5. The directory
will be visible before that time but will not have appropriate access
controls (as requested by the X Consortium folks.) Our local NSFNet
connection people have control over this ACL and will turn it off during
8-6 hours if the load swamps the T1 connection between our regional and
the NSFNet backbone. There will be a README file visible to inform you
of the actual status.
Anonymous FTP is now available to grand.central.org, so anyone without
afs access can now retrieve the AFS specs which have been placed there;
the user of this service is placed in /afs/grand.central.org and may
have to do some maneuvering to find exactly what they want (we are
currently using the pub directory to provide some semblance of the
"normal" anonymous ftp tree.)
In /afs/grand.central.org/darpa/usr/contrib I have recently added the
following programs:
tcsh - version 6.00.02 with some minor AFS hacks
gdb - version 4.0
bison - version 1.14
flex -version 2.3.7
Support for the pmax_ul* architectures is there for all these binaries;
time permitting I will also build them for the rs_aix31 and sun4*
machines eventually.
Sources to these programs is in
/afs/grand.central.org/darpa/usr/contrib/.site/grand.central.org/{gnu,tcs
h} for those who would like to grab or peruse those source.
Enjoy!
