Folks...

As part of the DARPA-sponsored research into the use of AFS as a
wide-area distributed file system, I have already been doing some data
collection in this regard. The system I'm developing to collect, store,
and massage these statistics runs on GCO machines, and the data itself
is already being stored in GCO. The collection system is still being
tweaked and improved, and will begin production use soon. The data
currently collected is in the following subtree:

	/afs/grand.central.org/darpa/datacoll

This tree is not yet publicly viewable, since changes to the format and
contents of the material stored there are still being made. As soon as
this facility stabilizes, I will open it up to public view and provide
documents as to its specifics.

If anyone out there in AFS-land has ultra-cool tools they use to monitor
the status of their own system, and they are willing to share them,
please let me know by email. I can even place them in GCO's usr/contrib
tree so that everyone can easily access them and do cooler monitoring
too, if they would like!

    Ed.
