Ed,

This is a nice idea. However, there's one thing I believe could be added
to make it even nicer.

I would like to be able to get source patches from other groups that run
AFS. They have source licenses and I have a source license. However,
the Transarc license doesn't allow us to ship the sources around without
Transarc's permission (perfectly understandable of course!). The problem
seems to me to be one of mutual authentication. In other words, for two entities
to exchange patches to AFS sources, we need a way of mutually authenticating
the fact that we both have source licenses and thus are permitted to look
at the sources.

Now, Transarc presumably maintains some group of people who have source
licenses (they must since everyone with a source license can authenticate
to transarc.com and go look at the source tree). A relatively simple
solution would be if Transarc would agree to set up some sort of source
clearinghouse where people with source licenses could deposit their patches
and other people with source license could go look at them.... Seems like
a fairly simple thing to do. Very little disk space should be required.
And since the source groups are apparently already set up, it shouldn't be
all that much work.

Could this be done?

					Cheers, Torben
