You can get info on the cache size by using the "fs getcacheparms"  
command.  You can dynamically change this with:
	fs setcachesize [-blocks <size in 1K byte blocks (0 => reset)>]

To change the dafault size, set the number of 1K blocks to use in the file  
/usr/vice/etc/cacheinfo.

It depends on the usage.  For a single user workstation, you probably  
don't need more than 10 MB.

I think it is based on 2.? (2.5 or something like that).
