For the second time we have had an AFS partition become unsalvagable after
a simple reboot after a proper shutdown.
Transarc refers me to IBM PTF U417683 (superceded by U418275 in AIX 3.2.4)
which purportedly fixes a problem with the superblock being overwritten
(not sure about this).
The first time I had this problem I had to recover the affected volumes
(all of a 2GB partition) from tape with the loss of one day's availability
and one half day's work.
This time I will try to recover the filesystem.
