I hesitated in responding to the questions about bug reports earlier since
I'd just put AFS up. However, now I've just blown a couple of days trying
to get the BSD ``r" commands working and it turns out that there are known
problems! Had there been a readily available buglist, I wouldn't have wasted
my time.
The problem we see is that when running the AFS version of ``login", ``rsh"
does *not* work. Authentication succeeds but then you immediately get a
``connection closed" message and that's it. This is a *serious* bug and I'm
surprised it hasn't been fixed. Aren't there others out there who use ``rsh"
instead of ``telnet"? We use it all the time and we need it to work.
By the way, the problems we're having occur on sun4c_411's and not on
sun4c_40 machines; even though the latter haven't even had their ``inetd.conf"
files fixed! Very strange! The way I have it set up, the SunOS4.0.3c machines
should *not* work, but they do....
Anyone have a solution to this problem? We're dead in the water because of it.
By the way, where are the most current AFS binaries for sun4c_411 located? I
thought there was supposed to be an afs.rel directory, but there isn't....Not
that I can find anyway.
Cheers, Torben
