We indeed have a pcnfsd which will authenticate a PC-NFS user for AFS access
via the AFS/NFS translator. We run it on RS/6000's at AIX 3.2, and it should be
quite portable.
The modifications were pretty minimal. I added to the pcnfsd an attempt to
authenticate the user for AFS by calling ka_UserAuthenticateGeneral() when the
user does a net login. If the user is authenticated, the daemon executes a knfs
to grant AFS/NFS access to that userid at that PC host. Thus the pcnfsd daemon
must be running on a machine which is also running the AFS/NFS translator.
By the way, this also works for OS/2 NFS, which uses pcnfsd (if present) to
authenticate users when mounting remote filesystems.
