Hi,
We are a relatively new site and we are growing rapidly. We have
recently created afs accounts for most of our users and we have about
10,000+ volumes.
We are having problems with backups. They take a very long time. There
are also some other features we don't like such as no standard tape
labels.
We would like to see what other large sites are doing for backups. If
you are a site with a bunch of volumes, please answer the following
questions and return to me. I will post a summary of the results to the
list.
1. Have you chucked Transarc's backup system? If so, what have you
implemented to replace it? (we are considering this)
2. If you are using Transarc's Backup, how have you defined your volume
sets and dump schedules? Have you developed anything that improves
AFS's backup system or helps you manage backups better?
Thanks for your help,
jeff
