At the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at CMU we have
users that use CAD tools that can produce output files 40 to 60 megabytes
in size. The AFS cache size on the workstations running this software is 20
megabytes. When ECE was running AFS 3.0 and AFS 3.1 beta software users
did experience problems caching these large files. We are now running
AFS 3.1 release software and it is my understanding that the problems
that our users experienced with caching large files has been fixed.
We have not had new any complaints to date, but then the research groups
that produces these files have attached large disks to their workstations
and are no longer using AFS for this purpose.
