Hallo Hesiod-users,
I am quit new to this mailing group and this is my first posting here.
We are infront of the desission to manage all(~50) our SUNs (80% SUN with
solaris 2.3 and 20% other unix systems) with DNS/Hesiod and Kerberos
authentication instead of useing NIS or even NIS+.
I would like to know if Hesiod is beeing used outside of MIT too,
and if there is anything we must consider when we want to start useing hesiod,
what problems (exspecialy with solaris 2.3) we could or will run into?
What Advantages/disadvantages dose NIS or NIS+ have (if any at all,
i don't like nis but i have to convince my boss) against Hesiod?
What is the state of kerberos. Is it free, where can we get it from?
Maybe there is also a faq which somebody could send me or tell me where
to get it from.
