Dear postmaster
We are an R&D group closely affiliated with DEC. We are interested
in distributed computing, over internetworks, and specifically
in distribution of database information.
We are familiar with DNS and BIND, and would be very thankful to you if
you could refer us to answers for the following questions:
1. I would like to read about the theory and methodology of Hesiod. What is
it good for. Specifically, can it be used to manage distributed databases?
2. In addition to "standard databases" in the sense of passwd information
stored in dbm format in DNS's own records, can Hesiod be used to manage
a series of relational databases? (Like Oracle, DEC RdB, Ingres, etc.?)
In other words, can peer database computing be managed using Hesiod?
3. Are you familiar with RFC's, articles, or books dealing with these issues?
Thankfully yours
Dr. Moshe Aelion
