Are the FreeBSD and Ubuntu hosts using the same resolvers? If so, are the
Ubuntu hosts successfully falling back to TCP when a large response is
detected?
Have you tried using dig, host or nslookup on the Ubuntu hosts to exercise
the resolver directly against the Hesiod group records?
