I think it did not catch on because of "packaging" You have to do
a bit of work to get it installed. Due the NIC's lack of support
of HS class, it can take a bit of DNS wizardry to get it working.
The skill level to install is a bit above the average Sys Admin. NIS
is a lot easier to set up.
