Java Architecture for Infrastructure Services

Team Name: Java Architecture

Project Leader: Scott Thorne

Report Date: 7/15/2002

Submitted by: Chuck Shubert

Accomplishments:

In June we participated in IMS conference calls on their new abstract
framework design. We developed detail specification for the OKI demos
and finalized contracts for their development. We worked through model
details for course admin and content management API in preparation for
the July developers meeting.

We continue to use the development of demo applications to refine the
OKI message. We have made considerable progress in creating the
environment needed for testing system integration. The demos will serve
as examples for OKI application developers.

Goals:

There continues to be plenty to do: documentation, common service,
utility, and application layer API creation, implementation, testing,
documentation, and so on. The work on the demonstration applications
will continue in July with a focus on the August 8 meeting in Snow Mass,
Colorado.

We will be presenting two major application layer APIs at the July OKI
developers meeting: Content Management, and Course Administration.

Issues:

Structuring OKI work to handle the large number of activities currently
under way is the biggest current issue.

Team Dynamics:

The OKI team continues to work hard. There continues to be a lot to
do. Developing the demonstration applications has been fun.
