I've seen proposals in the local media to create a systeme for taxation of
e's. Generally, this is intended to act as a deterrent to the use of
excessive e's in business (e.g. Ye Olde Antiquee Shoppe), but in practise it
leads to the taxation of any words ending in e. Many people here view it as
an attack against la langue française. Sounds typically stupid, but it's
only the thin edge of the wedge in my opinion.
