Police able to monitor all mobile phones

Norwegian police will soon be able to monitor all cellular phones,
including GSM.

The two major net operators, Telenor and NetCom have been ordered to
install equipment which will make it possible to make recordings of
conversations.

A spokesman for the Department of Justice says this is done to fight
serious crime.
He ads that this will in no way be a threat to the judicial rights of
ordinary people, and that the aim is to hit the big operators in the
traffic with narcotics. (NRK)
