Read the article John Young placed on Cryptome some time back, Richard
Preston's "The Demon in the Freezer," http://cryptome.org/smallpox-wmd.htm

This will change your view about just how "immune" Americans are to smallpox.

That does raise an interesting point in that many Americans have simply not
gotten innoculated as youth or else they've let the boosters drop as they
got into adulthood. I was wondering if somebody would make reference to
this. The additional point should be recognized that even with slight
modifications the existing immunities could be bypassed, change the surface
coat protein. Though, even with this caveat and extension the point is valid
with respect to Lucky's comment. In addition we have understanding,
discovery, and distribution systems that those 100, or even 20, years ago
were only dreaming about.
