What if the communications on the IRC were encrypted? Could
this pedophile still have been caught? Perhaps that is the
relevency of the issue here. The FBI agent got involved at the
start when he was casually surfing the IRC channel. If that
was encrypted, then he would not have found out about what
was going on.
