Heh. Mr "Obs Anon" worried about this too. Cryptnomicon didn't
explore this as much as it could. (NB: your island needs to have enough
contacts and resources to continue to exist (food, oil, etc.) despite
US/UN (is there really any difference?) economic embargo.)
Stephenson did deal adequately with physical security, but the economic
and quality-of-life on the isolated island get interesting. For
instance, how does the local support for the economy react to the
occasional tomohawk?
