IOW, we have to destroy the medium of anonymous posting to save it?

What I've seen no proof of is all these allegations that
"defamation" is so prevalent among anonymous posters.  What solution
are you proposing that would eliminate this supposed menace to
modern civilization as we know it without stripping away our rights
in the process?  Are you really asking Big Brother to step in and
protect clueless usenet newbies from being deceived by false
information posted to usenet?

If you follow the anti-remailer rhetoric, then traditonal ISPs
should be banned, too, since far more supposed "defamation"
originates from them.  Isn't it far better to simply avoid that
which you know is going to offend you, rather than working yourself
into a lather trying to censor it?
