On My Lord Hettinga's MS's press release :
The spin sounds exactly like that of Lotus, Netscape, IBM and
everyone else who has gotten export approval by doing the
King's bidding.
"The charges are unfair and inaccurate, we did it, here it is,
the market made us do it, so what, grow up, this is the way
the world works, buy our products, trust us, we would never
do anything to harm our customers, for more information
re-read this message."
NSA's statement said to contact Microsoft for information on
its products. Re-read the press release.
A practice promoted by governments and corporations worldwide:
all explanations are accurate as well as inaccurate, take your
pick or not. Muddy the issue, circumlocute, dissimulate, evade,
countercharge, refer to others, provide another interpretation,
change the subject, the packaging, the spin doctors, cut a deal,
hire the opposition, draft unpassable legislation, wag the dog if
all else fails. Record everything, taking names, confecting enemies
lists, add a few innocents to bust at midnight to scare the shit out
of bystanders who gaze the newsies, say, ah, it's just the usual
bunch of felchers.
