Qualcomm Settles Suit With Bliss - (SAN DIEGO) -- A
former Qualcomm employee settles a suit with the San
Diego-based company. Richard Bliss was briefly jailed in Russia
on espionage charges. He filed a negligence suit against the
company after returning to the U-S. The amount of the
settlement was not disclosed. Bliss was in Russia to install a
phone system. The former engineer said he relied on Qualcomm
to secure the correct permits for the equipment he was carrying.
Instead, Russian authorities confiscated the equipment and
jailed him as a spy. He accused the company of not working hard
enough to obtain his release.
