The SAFE in HR850rh is the Porter Goss version. He's the LEA
groupie who recently introduced the bill to subsidize key recovery
products.

There's a full-court campaign on to pass the crypto law the LEA
mavens want. The Prez (via the VP) is due to announce his part
of the campaign in mid-September according to BXA's Reinsche.
The release of PECSENC's recommendations is another. CESA
is another.

The campaign is rooted in the CRISIS report recommendations
for loosening crypto and developing other means to go around crypto
for snooping, as shown in the FCC CALEA-okay last week, as shown
in CESA's break-in provisions.

Porter Goss's and Bob Barr's attack on NSA is a ploy to divert
attention from global technical means and methods being readied
for domestic deployment in the name of counterterrorism, or as
the GAO Branch Davidian report last week showed, in the name
of drug busting -- imaginary enemies right at home.

The crypto genie out of the bottle meme may be in for a rude crash
and burn, Waco-like. Brace for Ninjas looking for crypto targets
dealing in anything that will get public approval for FRYing by
mil-trained and -supported means and methods.

That August 26 GAO report on on military support for immolating
the Davidians' "drug lab":
