I've been thinking about this some. It might be off topic as it does
not deal with crypto directly, but here goes.
Radio Free United States.
As someone has pointed out on a parallel thread, memory is cheap and
getting cheaper.
If a hydrogen balloon loaded with a cheap TV transmitter, or perhaps
just an FM transmitter, and sent aloft into the skies over a major
metropolitan area, then it might broadcast for a good 30 minutes before it
was detected and shot down. If several were syncronized and sent aloft
with the same message. Possibly only stored by one. It might be possible
to hold off a signal fix for long enough to open a few eyes.
Materials that would be needed.
Junk from Radio Shack. Easily purchased, no fuss.
Garbage bags? Light. Relatively large. The white ones would be about as
visible as a jellyfish in the sky. Several could be tied together to
provide more lift. Again, easily purchased.
Hydrogen gas. Easily MADE, (but dangerous). 1/4 the weight of a
comparitive volume of helium. Might even double as a self-destruct.
Fishing line?
Essentially an expendable, elevated subversive transmitter.
