It wasn't that many years ago that "someone in authority" at a place I
worked remarked to me how he thought e-mail was a stupid waste of
perfectly good number-crunching cycles and ought to be removed. He was
quite serious and viewed things like e-mail much like one might at
using a calculator as a hammer.
