Gordon, you asked for comments on this press release. The one thing that
jumped out at me is that apparently ANS *still* thinks of its
relationship with Merit as a *contractural* one, not a "subcooperative
agreement" such as (self) defined by the NSF Inspector General. The word
"contract" appears several times in this press release.
We could, of course, blame this on an ill-informed PR person, the one
that wrote this release. However, as any PR person can tell you,
*nothing* goes out the door that hasn't been preapproved by all parties
mentioned in the release. This means Mr. Weis certainly read over the
release and approved the use of the word "contract."
Just my thoughts on the issue.
