In the short term, a non-issue. The present MBone is a a virtual net built
on top of existing Internet technology (which as presently deployed, has
sparse support for multicast), using MBone point to point tunnels between
what might preferably be termed "redistribution machines". Even with
multicast support in your layer 2, you don't get anything until it's also
supported in your transport layer. (And please leave discussions about
the likelihood of ubiquitous ATM to the desktop out of this thread, please.)
