Gee, Gordon, is there anyone on earth who's integrity you are not
questioning?

I have to admit, though, that I have seen much worse on this list over
time from a number of people. Some of it quite directed and possibly
stuff for libel if someone would take it seriously enough. Many readers
also likely do not have enough background to put some comments made
"off the hip" into a larger context, and get a distorted view, with
probably resulting damage. I could go on about this, but my bottom line
question is, to protect both a large number of readers, as well as
those being questioned, as well as the questioners, whether we should
re-evaluate using moderated mailing lists for these kind of
discussions. With everyone's voice being equal, and everyone being able
to post whatever they feel like in whatever condition they are in, we
have a serious social problem on our hands, that sooner or later will
need resolution. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
