Dave, could you explain how a parent is supposed to block obscene material
when there is no requirement that all such stuff be under alt.sex?
Suppose, heaven forbid, I take it into my head to post a .gif to com-priv?
Some seemingly wacko bunch of German artists have started sending .gif's
direct to me via email, with no request whatsoever from me.
K-12 schools can perhaps deal with this via codes of conduct (aka AUP's),
and I think that's about all parents can do, too. It's not as though
kids are really unable to get much worse things, just about anywhere,
on the street. Of course, I expect that my local school will not carry
alt.sex & other identifiable adult (or at least non-child) stuff.
TV sensationalizes absolutely everything, not just the 'net. People have
learned to discount by 90% anything they see. Let's see some sensationalized
_good_ things about the 'net!
