one key difference

accountants know that they only count what happened, that other people
make the world really work day to day, making products, teaching children,
pumping gas etc

i don't think that the career bureaucrats do

marty

I think that is a fine thread for a discussion.
Why career accountants are less "bad' than career government types.

We should all recall taht J.Edgar though accountancy was a good background
 for G-men.

I would venture to guess that more havoc has been wrought by accountants
 than by M-16s

Hate to break it to you Marty ol' boy, :) but the Federal Government
 	has
given the Generally Accepted Accounting Practices and the rules set u

the Accounting Board the force and effect of law. As it stands, the
 	GAAP
and other rules are as much "involuntary regulation" as anything crea

 	  by a government agency.

Living down here beside Babylon on the Potomac there is a clear differ
 	ence

The people who rule on GAAP are neither career nor politically appoint

 	 bureaucrats

In addition they don't have a law enforcement section that totes M16's
