Would you mind giving a few specific examples of things you've been
flamed for? Just curious.
I personally would not hesitate to flame someone who sent me an email
ad without my request, but I use GNN a lot, and I rather like that concept...
also, the idea of pay-per-ftp doesn't bother me all that much, since I'm
one of those spoiled college students with a "free" Internet account
(I pay a flat rate per term for unlimited use of nearly all campus
computing resources :) I plan on staying in academia for a while yet,
so all of this fuss about commercialization doesn't affect me too much.
*Someone* has to pay for all of these Net resources, and it sounds like
the hitherto free infrastructure is beginning to strain under the weight
of all of the people now going online...
