Maybe. See John Gatto's article in the current CoEvolution
Quarterly. He makes a distinction between networks (as in networks
of people, e.g. schools, jobs, clubs, etc.) and communities. His
distinction is that networks exist for a particular purpose, even
though they may emulate communities. When push comes to shove,
communities care about people, but networks only care about their
reason for existance.
If you can't make sense of the above paragraph, well, then you now
know why I don't write for Reader's Digest, so go read Gatto's article.
