I believe the point is that this is how people TODAY are using the
networks. But what about tomorrow? Think about the hundreds of
applications we aren't doing yet... How about a simple thing like CU-SeeMe
(or however it's spelled), or maybe teleconferencing, or maybe....
Low speed from the home precludes us from thinking of new and wonderful
applications.
Then, there's the cable-tv perspective: Asymetric still looks like the
standard cable tv system where "they" decide what you'll be able to see,
and what public access means. Asymetric precludes me from providing a
public access channel from my home.
