While I may share your contempt for passivity, who the !@#$% set us up
as the philosopher-kings of public taste?
There is a real difference between "asymmetric" and "one-way" that must not
be lost to a sneer. "One-way" and "symmetric" are two ends of a continuum.
In real-world networking, it is incredibly rare to find symmetric flows,
even when looking at aggregations of many individual conversations.
As I understand the EFF's position, it is so important to subsidize those
who run listservs and FTP archives that an asymmetric service offering
ought not to be allowed. I beg, nay demand, to differ.
