Why would the CIX want to replace the ANSNET when ANS is now a member of CIX?
The CIX may want to support some other architecture than the NAPs and there
is nothing to say that they shouldn't. NAPs are what the NSF is willing to
pour money into, but if the CIX (or the individual companies in CIX) does not
want to participate, they can make their own architecture, whatever that might
be.
Gordon, if you believe your tax dollars are being wasted by the NSF in the
soliciation, by all means make that concern know in whatever fashion you
wish. I am sure some of the others on this list have actually done so. Send
your
mail to "President@white-house.gov" if you like.
I don't pretend to know which groups are going to get the vBNS or NAPs or
the RA, but I am sure that which ever groups do, there will be some happy and
some upset folks. Those upset may cry foul and sue or whatever. That is
the American Way....
