Our Connections Program may be used by community colleges. A typical
award under this program is about $20-30k spread over two years, and is
non-renewable. Funds go to purchase service from a Network Service
Provider or to pay dues to a regional network, and whatever else is needed
to get the campus on to the Internet. Basic ground rule is that the
connection MUST be made available to every qualified person on campus -
preferably over a campus area network (CAN - for which NSF does NOT make
awards), but even a terminal server will do for starters.

The program announcement is available by anonymous ftp from stis.nsf.gov
at /cise/nsf907. Please consult it for more details and specifics on how
to apply.

There's no specific set-aside for this program, but we try to make about a
hundred awards each year. Of course, with a couple thousand US
institutions of higher learning still to go there may be something of a
wait, so if you have other means do not hesitate...
