To Sean Donelan:
If what i am hearing from several sources turns out to be true all the
bugaboos about commercial use traffic may soon be history! this I would
imagine would be good for everyone.
The scenario is that
1. ANS very shortly will announce the formation of a for profit
subsidiary. That subsidiary runs the backbone as a commercial service
provider.
2. The NSF buys services from that commercial subsidiary of ANS. By doing
so the gov't is no longer in the business of running or subsidizing a
backbone.
3. Thus any customer connected to a regional can follow the acceptable use
policy of that regional and no longer have to worry about what acceptable
use for the backbone would be.
4. Everyone is happy?
If my scenario errors, please put it back on track.
