Would someone draw me a clearer picture of just what is meant by using the
Telebit technology Brian talks about to provide internet connectivity
independent of any controlling administrative entity.

For example what could Dimitrii do now with this technology that he could
not do with a more ordinary modem and a direct dial to a $20 per month
 account on Colorado's Supernet?

I can't quite grasp how this technology extends the network unless it
means that any host using it on a dialup basis could inturn be connected
to by other CPUs which could telnet and ftp THROUGH host #1 as long as it
maintained its connection with a sire like pub node.

I suspect there is something perhaps profoundly important being identified
here, but having been at this for only 6 months I can still use some
 clarification every now and then!

 Thanks, Gordon Cook
