I too found it fascinating at the time. If it in fact wasn't true, where
did the story originate and why didn't the NSF discount it in the first place?
I was extremely displeased with the idea that tax money was
subsidizing foreign networking while I have to scratch and
claw to get even recognition for our need to connect K-12
schools in this country, much less to acquire funding.
I had thought it was right here on COM-PRIV that the announcement was made,
can anyone verify this??
