Well Ellen, Bill Schrader and Mitch Kapor are only two people, that's
true. The real question is what percentage of the network users and
providers see things their way? i suspect a majority and I'll leave it to
others to characterize how large a majority.
Furthermore it is my impression that Congressman Boucher and Packard were
leaning in the direction of Mitch and Bill. The tenor of their questions
on my tape recording will I believe bear that out as I continue work on my
newsletter tomorrow and Saturday.
Although ANS wasn't there MERIT certainly acted as the friend of ANS
stating that ANS was created specifically in order to solve the problem of
commercial use. Boucher was so impressed with the results that he openly
wondered why commercial use resrictions weren't abolished in order to
level the field from the tilt that the ANS solution has produced.
