ANS did not testify at the hearings. Merit was represented by Doug Van
Houweling. Others who testified were Mike Roberts of Educom and Eric Hood
of Farnet. I might note that while Gordon has suggested that several items
came under severe attack, the primary critics were the two individuals who
have raised these issues previously here on the list, Mitch Kapor and Bill
Schrader. There are very definite differences of opinions about the best
ways for the network to evolve and these were definitely voiced. It would
probably be helpful to see the full set of testimony. I will see if I can
get these posted to the list so the full range of issues is presented for
your consideration.
A second "panel" at the hearing was Nikko Habberman and Steve Wolff of NSF.
Steve's oral testimony was very interesting, as he outlined some of the
things that the agencies were looking for in the future of the net.
