In response to Herb Lin's note. It *SURE* would be interesting to see
what the NSF is going to do with its allocation. Pay the backbone bill
for starters I'd guess. Then there are subsidies to the mid-levels ....
pay those. then some new connection grants probably. And maybe even the
new network information center. Wasn't the solicitation for the NIC
published almost a year ago? I know the public info meeting was last
June. I wish Steve Wolff would comment on where this stands. People have

(that was a lightning bolt about to stike me down I guess, anyway people
have told me that most decisions on how to spend are made within the feder
al networking council.
